Our goal in the intermediate grades is to deepen skills in core curriculum areas as well as helping students develop the essential personal skills of organization, responsibility and time management. Holy Spirit also provides a safe learning environment that supports social and emotional development. Using daily morning meetings, group projects, and classroom jobs, students learn both personal responsibility but also a sense of community membership.
The intermediate grade curriculum centers around the areas of religion, language arts, mathematics, science and social studies. In addition, students experience weekly specialist classes in the areas of music, physical education, and media literacy.
In 4th and 5th grade, teachers are specialists in a particular area of the curriculum. As a result, students have the opportunity to learn from 3-4 teachers each day, each an expert in their content area (math, science, language arts, and social studies).
